So, like i said earlier, this is my 16 colors palette (wich i randomly called S16 - well, not randomly but meanwhile i forgot what the “S” meant :D).
I’ve been working on it for the past few days and i think i’m finally happy with it.
The objective was for it to be as versatile as possible considering it’s only 16 colors. Obviously it can be very limiting at times but that’s what you get with color restrictions :)
So here’s a few examples of what CAN be done with it:
AND with that said, I’m here inviting all of you pixel artists out there to try it out and pixel something with it! I’d be sooo happy to see what you can do with this!
So please, try it out and reblog this if you can ;)
Thanks!
Ok! Here goes nothing….
Having fun with #Janinhus S16 colour palette on a quiet Friday afternoon
(My first reblog, no idea if I’ve done this correctly…)
When I’ve made animated gifs in the past I'd create each frame, saving each as a gif and then later import all of those back into one document as layers before turning it into an animation. This time I tried to use just one master file and animated each frame by turning layers on/off and scrolling them across. Either way it’s so easy to get lost with what you’re doing or miss a step here and there and then have to correct it all later once you’ve noticed…
Always remember to label your layers! Colour coding helps too :-)
I used to be a regular poster over on B3ta.com (a long time ago) and I used to really enjoy making animated hats for the user Icons (these would have appeared at the bottom left of each of the above images (shown here at 200% original size)).
These were my favourite 3 which I just recently rediscovered hidden deep within some obscure folders on an old work drive. I might try animating some new stuff, I remember enjoying it at the time :)
I’m about 50% done with this logo commission. Using it as an excuse to practice with the Wacom tablet, I’m trying to go for an etched/wood block effect using only the 1px pencil tool throughout. Starting with a black oval I sketched in white over the top and then swapped back to black and repeated. I’ll post up the finished piece once it’s ready.
I had a week off and now I’m back at work it’s super busy. I wanted to post something though so here’s some old Minecraft Skins I made…
In other news, we just got our new Cintiq tablets delivered (mmmm they’re lovely), and once I’ve had a chance to practice I’ll be sure to get something going for the blog, a friend wants a commission so I guess that’s as good a place to start as any, stay tuned!
